Iranian Film Festival to kick off in India

The Iranian Film Festival in India is slated to kick off in tribute of the culture and cinema of India and Iran.

The Iranian Film Festival in Mumbai has been slated to kick off in tribute to the culture and cinema of India and Iran.

The Iranian festival is scheduled to be held in the Indian city from January 22-26, a media report said.

The festival will screen five films, including the Indo-Iran collaborative film ‘Hello Mumbai’, featuring Indian actress Dia Mirza and popular Iranian actor Mohammad Reza Golzar.

“The idea of organizing this festival is to create a platform for cultural exchange between two countries -- India and Iran,” said Mahdi Zare-Bieib, Director of Cultural House of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

A 20-minute film on Iran will be presented during the inaugural program, in order to provide an overview of Iran and Iranian culture and society, the official said.

“While it is a positive sign how Iranian people are taking interest in Indian films, it is great to observe how Indian film lovers are also watching Iranian cinema,” Mahdi Zare noted.

The festival has been jointly organized by the Culture House of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai and Federation of Film Societies of India.
